About the Role


We are looking for inspectors and technicians who are comfortable being actively engaged on construction sites, performing special inspections and testing of construction materials in the field.

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days range Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. depending on project workload. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

The pay range is $26-$38 per hour, determined by relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities


• Monitoring materials, installation, fabrication, erection, and placement of construction components to ensure compliance with plans and specifications

• Accurately prepare daily field reports that summarize the services provided and include calculations of test results.

• Perform field observations and materials sampling/testing during construction of buildings, bridges, and roadways.

• Perform testing on construction materials, including soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, metal decking, and paving.

• Write daily field reports documenting work performed by the various contractors and indicating compliance/non-compliance with contract documents.

• Cast field samples of concrete, masonry, grout, etc., for strength verification.

• Provide phone calls as necessary to the Project Manager to inform them of the daily progress of the project.

• Collect construction material samples and deliver them to the laboratory, while also transporting equipment to the site technicians.

• Contribute to building a high-performing team by mentoring and supporting the team within the scope of work.

Qualifications


• 2+ years of special inspection and/or construction materials testing experience.

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

• Use a company-provided laptop or tablet computer and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Licenses


• Radiation safety training for the operation of a nuclear density gauge or the ability to obtain

• ICC Special Inspector Certifications (Reinforced Concrete, Pre-stressed Concrete, Soil, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding, Structural Steel and Bolting),

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - American Welding Society (AWS),

• ICC and/or ACI Certifications:

• ICC Reinforced Concrete

• ACI Certified Field Testing Technician Grade I or higher

• Nuclear Gauge Safety Training

• ICC Pre-Stressed Concrete

• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting

• ICC Structural Welding

• ICC Spray-applied and Intumescent Fireproofing

Physical Demands


The physical demands outlined below represent the requirements that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While carrying out the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. Additionally, the employee frequently needs to stand, walk, use their hands for tasks such as gripping or feeling objects, and reach with their arms. This role requires the ability to lift and bend, with the capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and bend or stand as needed. Employees must also maintain safe mobility over construction obstacles, using both foot and ladder, while navigating rough, uneven terrain and steep surfaces.
