BEFORE JOINING HMH ENGINEERING, ERIC OLSON SPENT PORTIONS OF 2012 AND 2013 AS THE PROJECT MANAGER AND LEAD DESIGNER FOR THE WESTWOOD LIFT STATION IN SANDPOINT, IDAHO.  THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO REPLACE AN OBSOLETE LIFT STATION ORIGINALLY INSTALLED BY A LAND DEVELOPER WITH A NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART MUNICIPAL LIFT STATION.  THE PLANS INCLUDED A BYPASS PUMPING PLAN IN ORDER TO KEEP THE EXISTING LIFT STATION ACTIVE THROUGH THE INSTALLATION AND STARTUP OF THE NEW LIFT STATION.  ERIC MANAGED THE PROJECT FROM DESIGN THROUGH PERMITTING, BIDDING, AND CONSTRUCTION.  CONSTRUCTION POSED CHALLENGES WHICH INCLUDED A BROKEN WATER SERVICE WHICH COMPLICATED ALREADY DIFFICULT SOIL CONDITIONS IN A 20-FOOT DEEP EXCAVATION.  THROUGH COOPERATION WITH THE CITY AND THE CONTRACTOR THE PROJECT WAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED.  TRINDERA ENGINEERING WAS THE ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SUBCONTRACTOR FOR THIS PROJECT.

 

This Project Included:

⦁    Duplex pumps and touch screen controls
⦁    New gravity sewer piping and manholes
⦁    Close coordination with private property owners
⦁    Difficult soil conditions: heavy clay with sand pockets
⦁    Bypass pumping plan for no service interruption
⦁    Parking lot and landscaping repairs
